WOMSA Nationals Results
First of all we would like to thank each and everyone for the messages, phone calls, e-mails etc. that we received for Sarel Brandt. We really appreciate the thoughts. After the passing of Sarel Brandt on 1st of November, the past week was very difficult for us, we didn't see it appropriate to post the race results for the WOMSA Nationals held on the 31st of October 2009. Sarel has now been layed to rest, we will always remember him everytime we race and never forget him.
RACE RESULTS FOR THE WOMSA NATIONALS held on 31st Oct. 2009:
Rain, Rain, Rain, on Thursday the 29th "The Ultimates" was supposed to practise but o dear, mother nature had other plans for us. Unfortunately it rained non stop since Wednesday till Friday night. Luckily when we woke up on Saturday morning the sun was a shiiiiiiiinning, yipee... The race was on!
The weekends racing didn't just quite start on the Richardsbay Oval track... Most of "The Ultimates" guys decided to test their Golfing skills in Richardsbay on Friday the 30th of October. Off course the Golf Game went very well for some and not so good for others the not so keen Golfers decided to have some oval track racing on the Golf course.... Oops hope they don't see this article! What I heard was that some serious racing took place with some very fast Golf carts and some of the grass went flying. That's what I heard... Nothing wrong with a bit of fun!
Getting back to more serious matters a hearty congratulations goes out to the following Champions:
SA1 - Vim Newman
SA2 - Kallie Newman
SA3 - Jacques Roos
What a great show! Eleven "Ultimates" went down to Richardsbay to race the final leg of the WOMSA Nationals. The track was tricky and had no rubber on, with the four weeks continous rain they had down at the coast. Because of the fact we could not practise, the guys had some serious setups and changes they had to do! Non the less we concured the track eventually and the racing was very fast as usual. Bad luck for Rambo (Vernon) Newman that broke a rocker and could not compete the rest of the night. Jacques Roos won the first Heat with Vim Newman and Kallie Newman short on his tail, Andries Marx won the second Heat with Kallie Newman and Vim again in 2nd and 3rd place. Jacques Roos won the final Heat . All points added together from the previous National meeting the results are as above. Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had great fun like always and enjoyed the race. We would like to thank Neville Loosemore and Michelle Loosemore for their hospitality and making our event a special one. Thank you to all the marshals and organizers of the event and last but certainly not least, the loyal supporters of Oval track racing some familiar faces and some new faces. Thanks guys we know you drove far to come and see the racing much appreciated... It warms our hearts with joy to know that you enjoy our racing so much! Thank you!!!
Sadly our weekend didnt end as good as it started with the fatal accident of Sarel on his way home on Sunday the 1st of November. Again our condolenses to his wife and children and family and friends.
Our next race meeting will be on the 14th of November 2009 at the Rock Raceway in Brakpan.
