Welkom Race Meeting Results 15th August 2009
A Hearty congratulations to the following three drivers for their outstanding performance in Welkom on Saturday night:

The Ultimates was a great success in Welkom, with most of the team inexperienced on the Welkom track they put up a very good show with very fast lap times. We where welcomed by very friendly people and enjoyed our race very much. Thank you to all Henk the Promoter of Welkom track and Hannelie the MSA official that helped us and to all the marshals and officials that worked so hard!
The Welkom crowed stood up from their chairs everytime "The Ultimates" took to the track. We had reports from people that it was the best Sprint car race they have ever seen in Welkom. A total of 15 Sprint cars showed up to race . The drivers was race starved and it showed as they went faster and faster, pushing themselves with every lap. The winter was certainly very long. 13 Sprint cars finished the race event with only minor incidents wich was a surprise given the speeds we got up to on the racetrack. A few spunouts was seen with the unbelievable horsepower of the Sprints and the tracks slippery surface. Unfortunately Pierre de Ridder's car broke a rear end/diff and he could not race. Robbie Herbst tested out his new Sprint that only came into South Africa just over a week ago. Unfortunately for Robbie the engine ran a bit warm so he decided not to race it and do some changes to it first. Das vd Merwe a local Welkom Sprint car driver joined in the race with "The Ultimates" and showed just how well he knows his home track, congrats to Das, you did very well. Andries Marx a guest driver also raced and did very well himself. Angelique Herbst also showed what a 18 year old little lady can do with a Sprint car and ran a good race...
We where very honoured to see a Sprint car race or three with some of the first Sprint cars that came into South Africa in the 1960's amazing isn't it, they are still racing and are in a outstanding condition! wow you guys from welkom I take my hat of to you!
