The Ultimate Sprints Rocked At The Rock! - by Rock Racing
On behalf of Rock Raceway team we would like to congratulate ALL Of The Ultimate Sprint Car Drivers, pit crews and teams who put on a very professional and well organised racing class, that is something that oval hasn’t seen in a long time, not only did the sprint car drivers dazzle the crowds with an adrenalin rush of tyre smoke, roar of the V8’s engines and not to mention the high speeds that these huge “Thunder Cars” produce but the whole package of sprints presented an atmosphere that sent shivers down every spectator, competitor and officials spine each time one of them fired up. The sportsmanship shown amongst the Ultimate Sprint Car competitors and towards other drivers from other classes is phenomenal. The discipline shown amongst the Ultimate drivers stood out a mile, especially when caution flags were flown, that impressed all of Rock Raceway management and fellow competitors.
Rock Raceway would also like to commend the Ultimate drivers for the sportsmanship shown when they allowed Theo and Johan Brussow to run their Super Midgets with the sprints. Again the discipline and respect shown towards these two competitors on and off the track was remarkable and applaud able, not once did the sprint drivers force Theo or Johan off their race lines or try and block them unnecessary, it goes to show that even though these two very different open wheeled class vehicles can maintain a high speeds and still share the same piece of tarmac.
Furthermore we would like to congratulate Kenny Gouws on his victory. Kenny had his sights on that checked flag from start to finish, as for the rest of the pack well it was a heart stopping as round for round a wave of sprints flashed past juggling positions at every turn, pushing the ultimate envelope of adrenalin as each roar of the V8’s thundered past the stadium. I can still hear the roar of engines in my head from Saturday night. Now you can imagine what it must be like for the spectators on the stands, going home with the roars of the v8 engines still buzzing around their heads even well after the races had ended! I am sure this week The Ultimate Sprint Cars must be the topic of conversation in the work place for many a spectator and official.
A well deserved second Place went to Pierre de Ridder who drove his heart out and an awesome third place to the only lady driver Liza van Zyl. Well I was blown away by Liza’s driving style, seeing how fast she could make that sprint go! Wow you go girl! I got goose bumps watching Liza jump in the corners and blast off like a space shuttle down the straight. We can’t wait to see The Ultimate Sprint Cars to return to The Rock and do it all over again. Well done!!
