About The Ultimates
In April 2008 a couple of guys who loved the sport, decided to take sprint car racing to a new level. This was done by buying 8 cars from the U.S.A. After that, things just got bigger and is growing by the day.
Currently The Ultimates have 19 cars in their group.
In Oct and Nov 2008 "The Ultimates" competed against some U.S.A drivers to promote Sprint Car Racing in South Africa. It was a great success. Our plan for the 2009 season is to run 18 events on various tracks in and around Gauteng. Check our events calender for further information.
Our main goal is to continue giving the Sponsors, Promotors and the Fans the best show on tar.
Open wheel Sprint Cars are truly unique, fun, and exiting racing machines. Fans of all ages are drawn to them for their aggressive and colorful styling, powerful sound, high speeds, and close racing action. Sprint Cars are lightweight by design, but strong enough to withstand the most abusive accidents. Most often the drivers walk away untouched. Their racing skeleton is made up of strong, durable metal tubing which forms the base for their aerodynamic body panels. These panels are molded to fit the Sprint Cars frame and attached to prefabricated brackets. The most recognizable parts of a Sprint Car are their sharp, angled top and front wings. They provide downforce for more speed and options for setup during tough and changing track conditions. Truly Sprint Car racing is growing in popularity! A motorsport originating in the USA is already making its way into other countries such as Canada, Australia, new Zealand and South Africa. Attend a race, take a walk through the pits and observe as the drivers prepare the cars for an exiting night of racing. Submitted by Liza van Zyl on Sun, 05/23/2010 - 16:11.It seems like "The Ultimates" will only be able to race again in August 2010. Most of the cars are being refreshed and upgraded to give our fans the best racing possible.
We do appreciate our loyal fans and are just as eager to get back to racing once again!
Unfotunately sprint cars require a lot of work and attention and all our parts are imported from the USA. This contributing factor also makes the sport very expensive and time consuming. We will be back on the track as soon as possible! You are encouraged to follow the USA Sprint car racing in the news section within our website www.sprintcarssa.co.za
It is peak season in the USA for racing and our website gives you the latest news every single day. It is nearly time for The Little 500 that takes place the Saturday (29 May) before the Indianapolis 500 (30 May) A total nearing up to 50 Sprints will enter this event every year... some of us had the priviledge to see this event live in 2009. You can also follow "The World of Outlaws" USA with names like Joey Saldanha, Steve Kinser, Jac Haudenchild, and Donny Schatz they are legends in the sport! The USAC Sprints are just as good and then there is also the Pennsylvania Posse known as the "PAPOSSE" with excellent drivers and has actually beaten the "Outlaws" on numerous occasions! Race Results for Polokwane event held on 27th March 2010
Submitted by Liza van Zyl on Mon, 03/29/2010 - 08:24."The Ultimates" would like to thank Polokwane Oval promoter, marshals and fans for a wonderfull nights racing!
The Ultimates had a total of ten sprint cars in Polokwane on the 27th of March , a very exiting evening with Robbie Herbst taking two heat race wins and then getting 1st Place for the night!
Pieter Brandt had a good night of racing and going very strong! Earning himself a well derserved 2nd for the evening.
Vim Newman was in his brand new car and still had some fine tuning to be done going out for the first time in his new car got himself a 3rd place for the night. One could see the guys was hungry for racing after taking some time to build new cars. Another new car on the track was Stanley Newmans nr 66 red car.
Great night of racing ! well done to all ...

"The Ultimates" race Polokwane

There should be more or less ten sprint cars at the race this Saturday. After a long break and building cars "The Ultimates" is ready to roll again!
Looking forward to seeing all our wonderfull fans in Polokwane!
